How EVA interlayers Films are used in glass lamination in general?

Eva laminated glass manufacturing requires only one simple machine. Unlike PVB, no autoclave, roller press, air bag etc are required. EVA film manufacturing can be handled under normal climatic condition unlike PBV.
The only machine required is just a heating over with vacuum utilities.

This machine can be used to make different type of laminated glasses. For examples, it can be used to make laminated glass for decorative and architectural purposes or to make polymer dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) panel which Is transparent and once voltage is applied, it allows light to pass through and become opaque again when voltage is cut off.

The laminated glass processed using this machine used the special EVA film interlayer, which is sandwiched between two layers of glass to bind the glass. Unlike PVB, EVA film is easily handled under normal climatic conditions. Thus no air-conditioner and de-humidifier are required.

Steps:

  1. When the well EVA film is already sandwiched between two layers ofglass and is loaded, the vacuum is started for 15 minutes at roomtemperature till it reaches 0.095 Mpa.
  2. Heat to low temperature ( 65 oC-70 oC ) and keep for a while ( 30-40min).
  3. The temperature is then increased until the glass surface reaches110 oC-130 oC and maintain temperature for a while (40-50 min). Note that the maintaining time varies according to glass and EVA films thicknesses. Please refer to the table below*
  4. Allow the laminated glass to be cooled below 50 oC. Throughout the cooling process, the vacuum should remain on. If decorative designs are used, it is then recommended to cool down to 40 oC.
  5. The vacuum is then turned off and the laminated glass can be unloaded.

General Application of EVA in Glass Lamination

1.The basic configuration of EVA laminated glass is to sandwich the EVA film interlayer in between two pieces of glasses.

There are various color choices, from standard clear to super clear, from light white to sandblast white, from transparent red to transparent black, from translucent orange to translucent blue and from opaque yellow to opaque purple, etc.

2. Decorative and Finishing Applications

Design interlayer with images and graphics could be sandwiched in between two pieces of glass encapsulated by two pieces of EVA films. The design interlayer could be any images, graphics and/or any colors.

Decorative EVA interlayer film is often used in combination with PET backing film, photo paper (PP, PVC), silk, metal wire, paper, glass fiber, fabric and so on. More than 20 kinds of colors can be selected to produce a variety of high-grade Very artistic sense of decorative glass, mainly for entertainment hotels, squares, home sliding doors, bathroom and other decorative and decorating.
